The hive goes silent and the game grows dangerous!
The Detective the Woman and the Silent Hive by Amy Thomas
My thanks to Steve and Timi at MX Publishing for my review copy of this book. Thanks for being so patient with me…
This is the third book in this series by Amy Thomas and is proof that great writers can reach new heights as they progress with a series! The two previous books were superb and this one is equally special!
Irene Adler arrives at Baker Street with the news that her bees have all died mysteriously. Holmes discovers that the bees have be poisoned with a singularly virulent bacteria known as “foulbrood.” The unusual agent that has killed Irene’s bees is known in America, but not so much in Great Britain and Europe.
Holmes discovers that there is a connection to an old case, one that Holmes has always considered as a dismal failure. Mysterious messages are left to let Holmes know he has enemies on his trail. The murder of a seventeen-year-old girl with a baby strikes Holmes to the heart and makes him even more determined to end this once and for all.
As usual the author plays Holmes and Irene off each other with the skill of an archer splitting an arrow with another arrow! Doctor Watson, Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Turner add their moments in this truly fascinating novel. I only hope that Amy Thomas continues this series. It is top of the line!
I gladly give this book five stars, plus!
